Briefly explain When does DNA replication happen and why?

DNA replication is the process through which two copies of DNA are obtained from only one. It happens in the interphase stage of the cell cycle when the cell it's preparing to enter mitosis or meiosis, the process of cell division, so all the daughter cells obtain a copy of the original genetic material.
