Given the expression 2,106.1 mles, for us to write in scientific notation, you will have to shift the decimal point backwards three times up till the front of the thousand digit i.e 2. This will be equivalent to

Note that the power of 10 is positve 3 because we shifted to the back three times. Note: The power of 10 is always positive when shifting decimals to the back and negative when moving tothe tfront
