Of the twenty-two students in a classroom, ten are transfer students, seven are nursing students, four are AAS students and one student is undecided.If one student is chosen randomly, find the probability that the student is either transfer or nursing.

P(\text{AorB)}=(17)/(22)=0.7727

1) Since there are 22 students, we can list the following categories:

10 transfer students

7 nursing students

4 AAS students

1 undecided student

2) Note that the point here is to find the Probability of one student that is either transfer or nursing.

Considering that one student can only fall in one of those categories we can write out the following:


\begin{gathered} P(\text{AorB)}=P(A)+P(B) \\ P(\text{AorB)}=(10)/(22)+(7)/(22) \\ P(\text{AorB)}=(17)/(22) \end{gathered}
