Let's say we are going to make a cake, so we need

Part A)

1/2 cup of flour.

1/8 cup of butter.

1/4 of sugar

1/16 of vanilla.

As you can observe the ratio is placed between the flour and butter.

Part B)

If we triple the recipe the ratio won't change because we are increasing all the ingredients by the same factor.
