Substitute 2 for y in equation 3x + 7y = 17 to obtain the value of x.

`\begin{gathered} 3x+7\cdot2=17 \\ 3x=17-14 \\ x=(3)/(3) \\ =1 \end{gathered}`

So solution of the equations is (1,2).
