When we divide a decimal number by:

10^3

If when we multiply by a power of 10, we move the decimal point to the left, when we divide by a powe of 10, we move the decimal point to the right the number of times that the exponent indicates.

For example:

(0.5)/(10^3)=(0.5)/(1000)=0.0005

From 0.5 to 0.0005 we moved the decimal point 3 times to the right.

Answer: three times to the right
