To find who ran faster, calculate the rate for each runner by dividing the distance over the time:

Mr. Zeigler:

(210)/(35)=6

Jade:

(120)/(24)=5

Since 6>5, then Mr. Zeigler ran faster.

Let t be the time that it takes to run 350 meters.

Since Mr. Zeigler's rate is 6 meters per second, then:

\begin{gathered} 6* t=350 \\ \Rightarrow t=(350)/(6) \\ \therefore t=58.333\ldots \end{gathered}

Since Jade's rate is 5 meters per second, then:

\begin{gathered} 5* t=350 \\ \Rightarrow t=(350)/(5) \\ \therefore t=70 \end{gathered}
