To solve a equation for a certain variable we need to isolate said variable on the left side. We do that by switching terms from one side to the other on the equation. In that proccess we need to switch the operation of the term, if it is adding on one side it should subtract on the other and if it is multiplying on one side it should divide on the other.

With this in mind let's solve the expression:

\begin{gathered} 4-8n-7n=-12-9n \\ -8n-7n+9n=-12-4 \\ -6n\text{ = -16} \\ n\text{ = }(-16)/(-6) \\ n\text{ = }2.67 \end{gathered}
