Deforestation is a type of land use that can also be called land conversion. It happens when the land is permanently altered by humans, usually for agriculture purposes and likely causing a change in land cover (like removing the trees for agriculture use). Deforestation by land use can include using the timber for fuel, construction or manufacturing, or clearing the land for farming or livestock.
