The name of the area in the retina of the eye where there are no rods or cones is a blind spot.

Rods and cones are both photoreceptor cells. When a light ray passes through the cornea and lensand it is focused on the retina it generates impulses in rods and cones.

As there are no rods and cones in the blind spot the image that falls in this region con not be seen.

The blind spot of the eye can also be known as scotoma or punctum caecum
