Infinite Number of Solutions

1) Considering the following system of Linear Equations:

I) 3x-y=4

II) 6x-2y=8 :2

I) 3x -y =4

II) 3x -y= 4

Let's solve it using the Substitution Method.

2) Let's rewrite the first equation first:

3x -y= 4

-y= 4-3x

y=3x -4

Now, let's plug into the second equation the first one:

6x -2y=8

6x -2(3x-4) =8

6x -6x +8 =8

6x-6x= 8-8

0 =0

y=3x-4

y=3(0) -4

y= -4

3) Note that as a matter of fact, we have the same equation on this Linear System. When this happens, we will only have one line, and we have an infinite number of solutions.
