If we add these two waves together, point-by-point, we end up with a new wave that looks pretty much like the original waves but its amplitude is larger. What is this called?

Constructive interference.

When two waves are added together point-by-point and a wave with a larger amplitude is obtained, it is called constructive interference.

The constructive interference occurs when two waves interact with each other and a wave with amplitude equal to the sum of the amplitude of each wave is formed.

Thus the phenomenon, in this case, is called constructive interference.
