A rectangular pool is 4 feet deep. one side of the pool is 2.5 times longer than the other. the amount needed to fill the swimming pool is 1440 cubic feet. find the dementions of the poolthe smaller dimension of the pool is ( blank feet)the larger dimension is ( blank feet)

Let x be one of the sides of the pool. The other side then will be 2.5x.

Now the volume of the pool is given by:


V=lwh

plugging the values we know we have:


\begin{gathered} 1440=2.5x\cdot x\cdot4 \\ 10x^2=1440 \\ x^2=144 \\ x=\sqrt[]{144} \\ x=12 \end{gathered}

Therefore the smaller dimension is 12 ft and the larger dimension is 30.
