Getting heads (or tails) when flipping a coin has a probability of:

P(H)=(1)/(2)

When we flip the coin for the second time, the head is still there, so the probabilities are the same:

P(H)=(1)/(2)

The probability of getting heads twice is the product of the individual (independent) events:

P(H,H)=(1)/(2)\cdot(1)/(2)

Calculating:

P(H,H)=(1)/(4)
