We can change a negative exponent to a positive exponent by moving the exponent in the numerator to the denominator or in the denominator to the numerator. An example:

\begin{gathered} x^(-2)=(1)/(x^2) \\ (1)/(x^(-2))=x^2 \end{gathered}
