So we have three images representing three individuals, two females (circles), and one male (square).

Having this in mind, we could assume that the gray color represents a particular gene that is affecting the female individual, so, the affected female would be the gray circle, but since we only have one square (or one male), we can say that there's any affected male in the picture.
