In order to balance the equation, we do the same operation on both sides of the equation.

we get,


-6x+8=5x+2

Adding 6x on both sides we get,


\begin{gathered} -6x+8+6x=5x+2+6x \\ 8=11x+2 \end{gathered}

Subtracting 2 on both sides we get,


6=11x

Dividing by 11 on both sides, we get


x=(6)/(11)

The value of x is 6/11.
