Given the function:

y=x^2-5

Adding 7 at both sides of the function:

\begin{gathered} y+7=x^2-5+7 \\ y+7=x^2+2 \end{gathered}

The function transformation: y + a, translates the graph of y, a units up.

Therefore, the graph of y = x²- 5 was translated 7 units up to become the graph of y = x² + 2
