What is a stem cell? What can they differentiate into?

Stem or pluripotent cells are undifferentiated cells that can develop into various cell types. What cell they transform into will depend on the growth factors present.

Some examples of cells into which a stem cell can differentiate are myocytes (muscle cells), fibroblasts or neurons.
