The circumference of the circle = C

The radius of the circle = r

The diameter of the circle = d = 2r

So,

\begin{gathered} C=2\cdot\pi\cdot r=\pi\cdot(2r)=\pi\cdot d \\ \\ \pi=(C)/(d) \end{gathered}

So,

pi is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter.
