\sin 53=\frac{opposite}{\text{hypotenuse}}

Therefore,


\begin{gathered} \sin 53=(x)/(15) \\ x=15\sin 53 \\ x=15*0.79863551004 \\ x=11.9795326507 \\ x=12.0 \end{gathered}
