I'm learning writing linear equations (y=mx+b) in algebra 2 I remember how to find slope but I forget how to find B can you please try to explain it to me?

Problem

How to find the intercept in a linear equation y=mx+b

Solution

We can solve this problem with an example. Let's assume that we have the following equation:

y=2x+b

And we know that this line passes thourgh the point (2,6)

We can use this point x=2 and y=6 to solve for b on this way

6= 2*2 +b

And solving for b we got:

b= 6-4=2

And our equation would be:

y= 2x+2
