The equations that form the equation system are:

x+y=17

x-y=-1

To determine if this system has or not a solution and, in case it does have a solution which one it is by using the graph you have to keep in mind that:

• If both equations result in the same line, then the system has infinite solutions.

,

• If both lines are parallel, then the system has no solution.

,

• If the lines cross at one point, then the coordinates of the said point are the solution of the system.

In this case, both lines cross at one point, with x-coordinate 8 and y-coordinate 9. This means that the solution of the equation system is (8,9)
