Let the number x.

Then the number divided by 2 gives

(x)/(2)

Subtract 3.8 from the quotient gives

(x)/(2)-3.8

Hence,

(x)/(2)-3.8=7
\begin{gathered} (x)/(2)-3.8=7 \\ (x)/(2)=7+3.8=10.8 \\ \Rightarrow x=2*10.8=21.6 \end{gathered}

x = 21.6
