If we solve for an equation, you must solve or substitute in a different equation

so


y=6-x

must be replaced on


2x-3y=4

then


2x-3(6-x)=4

multiply


2x-18+3x=4

and solve for x


\begin{gathered} 2x+3x=4+18 \\ 5x=22 \\ x=(22)/(5) \end{gathered}

the value of x is 22/5

now, to solve y , we repleca x on any equation, for example on second


\begin{gathered} x+y=6 \\ ((22)/(5))+y=6 \\ \\ y=6-(22)/(5) \\ \\ y=(8)/(5) \end{gathered}

the value of y is 8/5
