where v is the velocity and t is the time

we have

v =44 ft per second

we need to substitute the values given in the equation given


44=5t-6

then we isolate t


\begin{gathered} 5t=44+6 \\ 5t=50 \\ t=(50)/(5) \\ t=10\sec \end{gathered}
