We will call the remaining angle x to complete the angle R. Therefore:


\begin{gathered} 90=a+b+x \\ a+b=90-x \end{gathered}

Now, we know that the sum of the internal angles of the rectangular triangle that is formed is equal to 180, therefore:


\begin{gathered} 180=90+c+x \\ c+x=180-90 \\ c=90-x \end{gathered}

Which means that:


a+b=c
