(5)/(6)\text{ - }(4)/(9)=\text{ }(7)/(18)

Here, we want to find the difference of the two fractions

We start by finding the lowest common multiple of the denominators

That is the lowest common multiple of 6 and 9

Mathematically, this is 18.

Then we proceed to divide 18 by each of the denominators

After doing this, we multiply the result of the division by the numerator. After which, we subtract the results of the individual multiplication

Mathematically, we have;

\begin{gathered} (5)/(6)\text{ - }(4)/(9)\text{ = }\frac{3(5)\text{ - 2(4)}}{18} \\ \\ =\text{ }\frac{15-8}{18\text{ }}\text{ = }(7)/(18) \end{gathered}
