The zero of a function is any replacement for the variable that will produce an answer of zero.

Lets start with question 1.

Question 1. In this case

y=(x+4)(x+3)

is equal to zero when x=-4 or when x=-3. Hence the zeros of the function are at x=-4 and x=-3.

Question 2. The function is equal to zero when x=0 or when x=-1. Therefore, the zeros of the function are at x=0 and x=-1.

Question 3. The function is equal to zero when x=-5 or when x=6. Then, the zeros of the function are at x=-5 and x=6.

Question 4. Similarly, the function is equal to zero when

\begin{gathered} 3x-1=0 \\ or\text{ when} \\ x-2=0 \end{gathered}

In the first case we have

x=(1)/(3)

and in the second case x=2. Hence, the zeros of the function are at x=1/3 and x=2.

Question 5. The function is equal to zero when

\begin{gathered} 5x-3=0\text{ } \\ or\text{ when} \\ x+1=0 \end{gathered}

In the first case, we have x=3/5 and in the second case x=-1. This means that the zeros of the function are at x=3/5 and x=-1

Question 6. The function is zero when x=0 or when 4x-3=0. In this last case, x must be equal to 3/4. Therefore, the zeros of the function are at x=0 and x=3/4.

Question 7. The function is zero when x=0 or when 2x+1=0. Hence, the zeros of the function are at x=0 and x=-1/2
