We have the next quadratic equation

3x^2-4x-5=0

where

a=3

b=-4

c=-5

the quadratic formula is

x_(1,2)=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt[]{b^2-4ac}}{2a}

we substitute the values

x_(1,2)=\frac{-(-4)\pm\sqrt[]{(-4)^2-4(3)(-5)}}{2(3)}
