(1)/(3)x-5=(4)/(3)x+4

To solve the equation we should separate x on one side and the number on the other side, so we will subtract both sides by 4/3 x

\begin{gathered} (1)/(3)x-(4)/(3)x-5=(4)/(3)x-(4)/(3)x+4 \\ -(3)/(3)x-5=4 \\ -x-5=4 \end{gathered}

Now we need to add both sides by 5

\begin{gathered} -x-5+5=4+5 \\ -x=9 \end{gathered}

Divide both sides by -1 to make x positive

\begin{gathered} (-x)/(-1)=(9)/(-1) \\ x=-9 \end{gathered}

The value of x is -9
