z -----> number of calls in the third evening

we know that

x+y+z=126 --------> equation A

x=y+6 ------> equation B

z=3y ------> equation C

substitute equation B and equation C in equation A

(y+6)+y+(3y)=126

solve for y

5y+6=126

5y=120

y=24

Find the value of x

x=y+6

x=24+6

x=30

Find the value of z

z=3y

z=3(24)

z=72

therefore

30 calls in the first evening

24 calls in the second evening

72 calls in the third evening
