“The Rose that Grew from Concrete” by Tupac Shakur

Did you hear about the rose that grew

from a crack in the concrete?

Providing nature’s law is wrong it

learned to walk without having feet.

Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams,

It learned to breathe fresh air.

Long live the rose that grew from concrete

when no one else ever cared.
Part A: Which word best describes the author’s tone?
inspired
sorrowful
enraged
joyful

Answer:

Part A: Inspired

Step-by-step explanation:

Part B:

Specific lines in this poem that support my answer to part A are "learned to walk without having feet.; Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams,; It learned to breathe fresh air.". These lines show the author's tone is inspired because the rose has surpassed everyone else's expectations while achieving it's own "dreams" of "walking".

By the way, I love Tupac. May he R.I.P.
