An isosceles triangle have two congruent sides and two congruent base angles.

If the vertex angle is 44 degrees and the total measure of triangle's interior angles, then the sum of the two base angles is 180 - 44 = 136 degrees.

Therefore, each base angle measures 136/2 = 68 degrees.
