In the figure, there are two triangles and one square .

The area of square is

$A_1=6*6=36sq.\operatorname{mm}$

The area of triangle is

$A_2=(1)/(2)*8*6=24sq.\operatorname{mm}$

The area of triangle is

$A_3=(1)/(2)*8*6=24sq.\operatorname{mm}$

Thus the area of the figure is sum of area of square and area of two triangles.
