Let the number be x

According to the statement,


3x-10=20

Solving it,


\begin{gathered} 3x-10=20 \\ 3x=20+10 \\ 3x=30 \\ x=(30)/(3) \\ x=10 \end{gathered}

Hence, the number is 10.
