1) Let's solve this expression reminding that the minus sign before the parentheses works like -1*(-798), i.e. swaps the sign of the number inside the parentheses:


\begin{gathered} 474-(-798)= \\ 474+798= \\ 1272 \end{gathered}

Note that, since the sign inside the parentheses turned into a plus sign so now we had to add them.

2) Now, let's work with that division.


\begin{gathered} (-262)/(865)= \\ -0.30289\approx-0.303 \end{gathered}

Since with these numbers, we can't reduce it any further then we proceed with the division, rounding it off to the nearest hundredth. Notice also, that the sign of the numerator is negative, and the bottom number is positive so it yields a negative number.

Hence, the answers are:

1.) 1272

2) -0.30289
