A grain silo has a cylindrical shape. It’s radius is 8.5 ft, and it’s height is 36 ft. What is the volume of the silo? Use the value 3.14 for n, and round your answer to the nearest whole number. Be sure to include the correct unit in your answer.

The volume (V) of a cylinder is:

V=Ab*h

Where:

h = height of the cylinder

Ab = area of the base

Ab=\pi r^2

Where:

r = radius of the base

Then,

V=\pi r^2h

In this question,

r = 8.5 ft

h = 36 ft

Then,

\begin{gathered} V=\pi *8.5^2*36 \\ V=\pi *72.25*36 \\ V=2601\pi \\ \text{ Using }\pi=3.14 \\ V=2601*3.14 \\ V=8167\text{ ft}^3 \end{gathered}

Answer: 8167 ft³.
