Solve for the unknown variable using a pythagoras theorem:

Hypotenuse = 32+x

Opposite = 56

Adjacent = x

\begin{gathered} \text{Hyp}^2=\text{opp}^2+\text{adj}^2 \\ (32+x)^2=56^2+x^2 \\ (32+x)(32+x)=3136+x^2 \\ 1024+64x+x^2=3136+x^2 \\ \text{collect like terms} \\ 64x+x^2-x^2=3136-1024 \\ 64x=2112 \end{gathered}

Collect like terms

\begin{gathered} (64x)/(64)=(2112)/(64) \\ x=33 \end{gathered}

Therefore the correct value of x = 33
