Given the following inequality

\begin{gathered} \tan ^2(x)>\sqrt[]{5} \\ x\in\lbrack-\pi,\pi\rbrack \\ \end{gathered}

We need to check if x=0.981 is a solution.

This value is inside of the range, then, we just need to evaluate.

\tan ^2(0.981)\approx2.2325919107

Calculating the square root of 5:

\sqrt[]{5}\approx2.2360679775

From this, we know that the statement is false, because

\tan ^2(0.981)<\sqrt[]{5}
