How did the war tactics of grant differ from Sherman for the union

Grant knew he had more men to spare than the south (around a 1 - 4 ratio)

If any other general suffered a loss they would retreat, but not grant

Grant would order another push

This meant he was winning decisive victories but at the cost of many lives

Back home he was ridiculed as “grant the butcher” but unlike every other general, grant was making process
