The sixth-graders at Doug's school got to visit either the science museum or the history museum. 25 students picked the science museum and 22 students picked the history museum. What is the ratio of the number of sixth-graders who visited the history museum to the total number of sixth-graders

Answer: 22:47

Explanation: We know that 22 students went to the history museum. We just need to find out the total number of students. The determine the number of students, we need to add 22 and 25 because those are all the students, regardless whether they went to a science or history museum. 22 plus 25 equals 47 so thats the total number of students.
