Paine used the biblical target to gain the popularity of the Britons. He felt that from the past history, that this would surely when over the argument over independence in Britain. He hoped that by going this route that the community would be able to follow the word that they had already belied in. He hoped to gain their trust and the prosperity of the Britain.
