I don’t know this one so please help:

Is the predicate of this sentence simple or compound?

“Six wriggling puppies tumbled out of their basket and ran toward me” (from my DLR Week 11 assignment)

Answer: compound.

Step-by-step explanation:

since it is combined with an 'and' it is compound. a simple sentence would be" six puppies ran towards me". it is not connecting two actions. the puppies only ran in this sentence, so it is a simple sentence.
