Without solving for x, how can you show that x=2 is a solution to 2x+3=3x+1?

We minus 3 on both sides, we get :
2x = 3x - 2

We have the equation : 3x - x = 2x, or 2x = 3x - x, and this holds true.
Since x corresponds to 2 in the first equation, x = 2 is a solution
