If an object is shot upward with an initial velocity, vo, in feet per second (ft/s), the velocity, v, in ft/s is given by the

formula
v = vo -32t, where t is time in seconds. Find the initial velocity of an object if the velocity after 4 seconds is 41 ft/s.

the initial velocity of an object
= 170 ft/s
Step-by-step explanation:
• given equation is v=Vo-32t
.. (i)
an initial velocity, Vo, in feet per second
(ft/s)
vin ft/s = 42 ft/s
† is time in seconds = 4 seconds
Putting the values in (i) , we get
42 = Vo - 32 x 4
multiply
42 = Vo - 128
add 128 to both sides
42 + 128 = Vo - 128 + 128
Simplify and add
170= Vo
Hence, the initial velocity of an object = 170
ft/s
