In the digestive system, proteins are digested into amino acids.

Describe what happens to any of these amino acids that are in excess, and how their breakdown product is removed from the body.

Answer:

Amino acids are transported to the liver during digestion and most of the body's protein is synthesized here. If protein is in excess, amino acids can be converted into fat and stored in fat depots, or if required, made into glucose for energy. What is left is usually turned into waste and is turned to urine.
