Answer:

Explanation:

5(x-7)+3 = -17

5 will be multiplied by the whole statement in the bracket

{5(x)+5(-7)}+3 = -17

5x-35+3 = -17

5x-32 = -17

we move (-32) to the other side so it can be added/subtracted from (-17)

(-32) to the other side of equation will become +32

5x = -17+32

5x = 15

5 is being multiplied with x, we move it to theother side so it can be divided by 15

x = 15/5

x = 3

Hope it helps you :)
