MATHEMATICALLY THIS MEANS

8x = 3x + 15

YOU CAN USE ANY VARIABLE OF YOUR CHOICE TO REPRESENT THE UNKNOWN NUMBER. NOW SOLVE

8x - 3x = 15 \\ 5x = 15 \\ (5x)/(5) = (15)/( 5) \\ x = 3

THAT NUMBER IS 3
