Answer: to lay and collect taxes; pay debts and borrow money; regulate commerce; coin money; establish post offices; protect patents and copyrights; establish lower courts; declare war; and raise and support an Army and Navy.

Explanation: Name each of these powers first to show your teacher you know them. If the other government branches were allowed any one of these powers they would have the power to overcome our government. The national government checks and balances the other governments and visa versa using their specific powers
